Salesperson

Personal Care Product Formulation Manager
Department: Research and Development
Job Description: Responsible for managing the R&D/Product Development laboratory in a personal care manufacturing facility. Manage technicians and associates as required.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
• Responsible for managing R&D/Product Development laboratory including hiring and training personnel, maintenance and management of product stability program including OTC compliance, new product development, and existing product modification.
• Functions as technical support to other departments including production, batching, purchasing, and inventory control
• Develop specifications for raw materials and finished products.
• Ability to follow written lab procedures.
• Document results of experiments and analyses in notebooks and electronic spreadsheets.
• Train and develop laboratory technicians and assistants as required.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of lab and equipment.
Additional Job Functions:
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
• Understand and adhere to GMP policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree in cosmetic chemistry
• Three to five years experience in bringing formulas from bench scale to production scale.
• Must be able to solve in-production batch problems.
• Formulation bench experience required. Experience with sun care, hair care, skin care, oral care, nutritional drinks, ‘active’ products including OTC products, color cosmetics, sunless tanning, industrial cleaners, etc preferred.
• Must be able to modify formulas to meet customer needs in specific markets (Asia, Australia, Europe, etc.) or in specific distribution models (direct sales, retail, etc.) preferred.
• Experience in other areas of new product development including regulatory requirements, stability testing, challenge and safety testing, microbiology, manufacturing, packaging compatibility, ingredient labels, etc. preferred.
• Must have knowledge and experience in the fields of emulsions, surfactants, colloidal gels, and other suspension systems.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Oracle experience desirable
• Ability to perform complex math functions.
• Must have capacity to manage others and plan group assignments effectively.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all essential position duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
